For low-income students

The Berkeley Student Cooperative offers housing and food security for low-income and traditionally marginalized students, with 20 properties surrounding the UCB campus.

At the BSC, you are part of a student-run cooperative and a member of a supportive community with unique opportunities to gain work and leadership experience.

The BSC gives priority to disabled, low-income (EOP), transfer, and undocumented students.

The BSC removes barriers for low-income and marginalized students who go to college in the Bay Area.

The BSC offers full room and board for less than $825/month. We have even cheaper options (without food).

We are proud of being student-run since 1933. We empower our students with community-building skills that they can take into the future.

The BSC has a critical need for funds to preserve and maintain our 20 properties, as well as scholarships.

Internal Positioning Statement

For students who are low-income and marginalized, the Berkeley Student Cooperative provides affordable, cooperative housing. The BSC sets itself apart from other student housing providers by providing transformational experiences in cooperative living. We also prepare students for the next step by empowering them to create collaborative communities.
